On this day 200 years ago, one of the most important event in the history happened when the law on abolition of slave trade that was passed(although abolition of slavery in British empire didn't happen until 1833). Since RN had pretty much the control of Atlantic Ocean that point, that basically abolished any slave trade. The man behind the drive is William Wilberforce, who used the duration of his political career on this issue. "Amazing Grace" is often sang when remembering the abolition of slave trade, which was written by an evangelical preacher named John Newton repenting for the sins he committed as master of slave ships. And then for installing Wilberforce with the conviction to go into politics rather than ministry so that he can use his Christian values to eliminate the slave trade and other issues. Although it's a boring movie, I do suggest those who are interested to watch "Amazing Grace" to appreciate the force that drove him and others in this movement.
