I think they need a better ASW helicopter for the older ships. Sice the helipad size is a done deal they should just develop a coaxial helicopter.
This way you could have a larger useable airframe with more powerful engines and payload.
Yes, their frigates will still need light helicopters unless they are able to extend the length of the helipad in the MLU of type 054A.

A note on Z9ME, these are for exports.

Considering that France upgraded the h-160 of the same size from the 4-ton class of the z-9 to the 6-ton class by using a 953kw engine, China, which has an 1100kw engine, can do the same. Of course, this depends on whether the navy is willing.

I noticed that this sonobuoy sends a signal back up to the helicopter via wire, rather than radio signals through a floating transmitter.. Seems like a new development, unless others exist that are capable of the same? Suggestions as to how this would protect the aircraft in an attack scenario?
