We can move all the Chinese Canadians to Australia and Caucasian Australians to Canada. The Canadians will be warm for once in their lives and the Australians don’t have to deal with a thousand species of deadly animals.

When all is said and done the Three Eyes Empire will come out of the Five Eyes Alliance. So Trump will pretty much be Erlang.

If Taiwan was sold out, US can at least say, keeping me in the picture will keep China honest
So the US's best interest is to maintain the status quo or somehow goad China into a war (like it did with Russia/Ukraine), and somehow inflict massive losses without any of its own (again, similar to Ukraine)

Trump (maybe not fully) but his China hawk backers/advisors are not interested in any win-win scenario. They have already said several time they are going to push for Russia to cease their relation with China. Their main goal right now is to rebuild the US to put them in a better position to fight China. It just that their goal of confronting China aligns with their domestic policies.

It doesn't have to be win/win, but there is only the last scenario which is USA win-China lose.
However, how can they push China to war with minimal losses for themselves? It is almost impossible.
Perhaps they are thinking lose Taiwan as an excuse to push all the sanctions and tariffs they want?
