Put it this way. This year a move in India was released called Pathaan, it was Sharukh Khan's (essentially India's Brad Pitt) big comeback in a cultural landscape where Hindu nationalism is firmly entrenched. Despite calls to boycott the movie, it became India's second biggest domestic box office success of all time and played decently well in territories with large Indian diasporas. Its total gross in the end dollar wise? 130 million. Even Deep Sea and Hidden Blade, two Spring festival movies with zero hype and lukewarm reviews, individually grossed more in China alone. Nevermind the grosses for both Wandering Earth 2 and Full River Red, two movies that'll still likely be in the top 10 highest grossing movies of 2023 even after the release of Hollywood's heavy hitters.
There is no "gap" between India and China's domestic buying power, there is a chasm.
Sidenote: Pathaan despite being even more ridiculous than the last Fast and Furious movie has a higher RT score than Wandering Earth 2. Tell me that this whole thing is not rigged.

On a different note, the situation in Sudan appears to be evolving and multiple nations are beginning to plan or outright evacuate their citizens, with military involvement.
I wonder if the PLA will be getting involved soon or at least if plans are being drafted. They have a fair bit more strategic transporters now than when they evacuated Aden in 2015, but also the geography of Sudan is different to Yemen where Aden evacuation by sea (that made up the bulk of China's evacuation then) was more of a no brainer.

China does have a support base in Djibouti which may be an option for evacuation. The US is reportedly gathering a small task force in Djibouti to evacuate the embassy.
On a side note, any American left in Sudan who is not part of the embassy is going to be ditched and left behind which could be up to 16,000. However, real figures are likely a lot lower since they aren’t required to check if they leave. Flash backs to Afghanistan.
China's base in Djibouti however doesn't have an airstrip from which it could deploy transport aircraft from.
Of course, it could still have some uses to help with an evacuation but their Djibouti base is different in scale to the US base there. All of which is to say if an air bridge is part of their evacuation contingency they'll probably need the cooperation of another nation in the region to ferry their personnel from.
