So they are leading the world in solid-state batteries? All others are still developing their solid state batteries and not in mass production yet.

I guess it depends on the definition of "mass".

Nissan and Toyota are cutting prices like no tomorrow, while GM and Ford's sales drop like a brick in China.

BYD building new parts factory in Changzhou. Expect second phase of car plant here soon.

Toyota Bz4x having massive sales which prompt Toyota fans into thinking that production of BZ4x will stop at FAW Toyota soon.

Finally, the new Geely L7 to come out on 02/23
I think Geely now sees BYD's success as an existential threat. This Galaxy brand launch has been done quite well and has the full support of everything Geely has done in recent years. We will see how well it does.
The problem imo is that all of this is coming a little late. BYD has a full lineup that continues to grow. Geely with all of its brands are confusing to people. This new brand is starting fresh with just 1 model.

Anyone know why Nanjing failed to become an EV hub? If you look at the map it's surrounded by rapidly developing EV hubs like Hefei (Nio, VW-JAC), Changzhou (BYD, Li Auto), Liyang (CATL) but nobody is building new plants there except Byton which went bankrupt

All it has left is old Changan and SAIC factories from the 2000s

I guess there is already too much competition from the surrounding cities. Nanjing is my home city so that kinda sucks.

I have a few friends working in senior Ford positions. There has not been any word of developing battery tech there. Ford business model is all about outsourcing to OEMs and letting them compete with each other, something they learned from Toyota in the 70s. Ford does not have much engineering talent and most of it is used to do quality control of the OEMs' parts. If CATL is worrying about a US competitor, it will be from other battery suppliers. Which is why CATL should snuff them out in the crib by eating up market share and giving less room to grow.

I hope this rests some fears. Interestingly, US auto companies do not have the same emphasis on vertical integration, which instead seems to me to be a primary feature of tech companies like Amazon, Apple, Tesla and Nvidia.
Every physical product is like this. I may or may not know something about semiconductor equipment. most companies in the sector are separated between the designer/integrator and the parts provider. The designer makes the design according to parts availability. If the parts are in stock they'll buy some samples for a prototype if not they'll work with the supplier on a custom piece. If the prototype works they ask suppliers to make the parts at mass scale. Suppliers will get new parts qualified by a highly rigorous specifications and test process, and in fact the requirements are often quite overspecified.
