Is it possible that the reason McCarthy "has nothing scheduled" for Taiwan not because he doesn't want to, but because DPP can't politically afford to have him come? The last time Tsai entertained Pelosi and China launched live-fire drills, their constituents woke up and they lost the resulting election in a KMT sweep. In that case, it would be a smart strategy to use the leftist MSM to call McCarthy out as "all bark and no bite" and bait him into visiting late 2023, ensuring DPP is all but buried in the 2024 presidential elections.
It'll be good for the KMT to cement ties with China but at the same time do something so the party stands for something other than "CCP sympathizers", which they'll inevitably be branded as.
