Apparently, Turkish Army drones are circling the Armenia-Turkish border. Tho I am also hearing Azerbaijan is hitting ammunition depots, tanks, air defense systems, and critical infrastructure. Reportedly, the city of Jermuk has gone dark.

How does turkey fund all these geopolical endeavor, military build up with shitty economy and depriciating Lira? Turkey is busy in arming azerbaijan, syrian rebels, political interference in Libiya, arming Ukrainians etc. I am surprised Turkey’s economy isn’t bankrupt yet.

if CSTO declares war on Azerbaijian then Russian conscripts and strategic weapons can be used. Azerbaijian is gambling here.

CSTO is very dependent on Russian arm forces. Russia is currently having its hands full with Ukraine, a situation Azerbaijan is smartly exploiting. I doubt Russia wants to get deeply involved in another country at present.

The next major country in CSTO is Belarus. Despite all of Lukashenko boasting/threats, he didn't order his army into Ukraine to fight alongside with Russians. He is certainly playing to maximize his interests which make Belarusian involvement in Armenia also uncertain.

Azerbaijan just announced increasing gas export to EU to court their support so that EU/UN would likely turn a blind eye (other than issuing some meaningless statements calling for restraint).

Sure, Azerbaijan is gambling here. But it is gambling with a stacked deck.

Turkey's economy is a basket case but they have a lot of remittances. And with regards to the Turkish economy itself, a large part of the country's economy runs on alternative currencies like the Euro. So it isn't as bad as you might think in practice. Turkey itself had a major construction binge and there is a huge private debt overhang because of that.

Unlike Europe, Turkey has the benefit of Islamic demographics.

In the long run I think Turkey will be fine.

Never seen someone use tires to cover their trenches (Armenia). Tho it doesn’t seem all that effective being a 1 layer tire wall that is stacked on top of each other.
