When I was there for work I could get by fine without using the local currency, hotels and businesses are more than happy to take euros including with electronic payments.

Brave of you to think your average German would still be able to afford beer after the next few rounds of gas and other price increases.How would the Germans drink beer with out cans?
Although I supposed after enough of them freeze to death this winter for a lack of heating, beer prices may fall back to affordability again.
