ooh shit thats a political dogwhistle that certain sects within the US are allowed to assassinate Trump.
This is Taiwan News so its credibility is medium but they are quoting a person here
Let's see what Aso Taro, the vice president of LDP, is saying:
"If a major problem took place in Taiwan, it would not be too much to say that it could relate to a survival-threatening situation (for Japan)"
As the article says, this guy said this last year too. He is saying this because he is trying to convince the Japanese people to higher military spending and a possible war. LDP is the only political force in Japan with actual power and most of its upper cadres are related to the elites of the Meiji era. We are talking about an oligarchy that has been in power for 150 years here. What these guys are saying is important.
What he is saying is of course wrong. Taiwan is not a part of Japan and Japan itself recognizes it as a part of China. But regardless of that, I would say it is near certain that Japan would join any American action against China. China needs a massive deterrence. The CPC needs to realize that the current status of Taiwan has become a massive problem for China and military deterrence is the only way forward. After this point the only things Dengist pacifism will lead to are loneliness and an independent Taiwan.

Well, Russia is shitting itself with its own internal economy and never really stopped doing it. It was way worse during Yeltsin but it is far from good under Putin even if it might have slowly improved. So even if they don't have much restraint they need to carefully pick their battles.
China publicly they act like they have 1 hand tied to their back because they're idealistically trying to salvage the international system instead of just making their own vassal bloc. If you look at it cynically however, it might just be a long con strategy to get all the neutrals on China's side while forcing the NATO countries into extremism, so when US makes a mistake, they'll get gorbachoved.
History is replete with a lot of warlords who said they would under no circumstances seek hegemony, only to claim it anyways when the right moment presented itself.
I think another part of Chinese foreign policy is simply drawing from Stalin and Chamberlain. They knew Hitler was going to be a big problem later, so they used diplomacy to buy time for their countries to prepare. Beijing allowed America to invade Afghanistan and Iraq for the same reason Poland was allowed to be split by Stalin.

In the end, all I care about is China making it out in one piece and if it requires the USA and the EU to fall against Russia while Russia does most of the fighting, well, I guess that is just what kind of price that the world simply has to pay but then again, we all know that time is on China's side when it comes to the west. Lets just hope that when the time comes that China is willing to do what is required to bring down the USA hard and let the system the USA has built up over decades come crashing down while getting the rest of the world to ask the USA to pay back all the debt owing. And if the USA fails at the moment in regards to being able to pay back the debt owing with something tangible instead of toilet paper that will be worthless, then lets see if the same cruelty that China show in past dynasties can be unleashed on the US like they have feared all this time only this time, it is 100% earned for all the harassment that the USA has engaged against China with. The time for playing nice will soon past, lets see if the USA has the guts to stand against an angry China without the entire world as there cannon folder and with many other nations that want to take that pound of fat out of these, well I can't exactly come up with many expletive terms that might me in trouble. If the recent news in regards to the fear of an attack on Los Angelas is true, then I guess we can conclude that the USA is scared as hell right now
