The easy life has given Westerners a certain kind of stupidity (among many other ills). I've seen people unironically say that Russia seizing assets would discourage foreign investors - after Russia's central bank reserves were seized. These people are literally NPCs, they can only spit out a handful of preset responses. They haven't begun to understand that in the world we've entered, all the old rules have gone out the window.
