I am taking reports of Ukrainian twitter and reddit posts with a grain of salt until the end of the war since they have been using Syrian footage along with footage of russian separatists they claim as Ukrainians stating they are making progress, lets not forget there were users here talking about the ghost and reaper of kyiv and people actually believed the warthunder/arma-3 footage as legit i shit you not. its better to show your adversaries a small fraction of your power.

Russia in 1990s was practically sanction as hardly any investment and imports.
sanction will create short term inflation but fundamental infrastructure is built for growth and exports for things that world need.

Ukraine has been abandoned to their luck by the same powers who stirred all this mess, this is rising a lot of questions in Taiwan. Whatever twitter victory Ukrainians have that fact is the Russians are disintegrating that country day by day. How long the siege will last, two weeks? whatever victory Putin will have could send a signal to hardliners including those in China that the West will not respond.

You do have a point. Although I would say the Western powers are backing up the Ukrainians a lot with intelligence now beyond the token material support which I think has contributed to frustrating the Russians.

That said, I lean more in the camp that the US will intervene in the event Taiwan conflict. There's the human element psychologically that will be decisive factor behind any US intervention, imo.
