Japan and all the other OECD countries have no technology restrictions enforced upon them. ASML would be a nothing burger without its international collaborations. I think the belief is that no single individual country can do everything and if they could do everything, they will never be the best at anything.
One doesn't have to be the best at everything, but one can be decent or good at everything. China MUST actually be exactly that, given the hostility that it faces in the global environment in which the US can cause foreign countries and entities to act against their best economic interests in relation to China.

Good point. People here often promote and praise China efforts (not blaming them) but they often forget that the US has the whole world to get ("buy") technology while China is increasingly facing restrictions on acquiring foreign technology

You saw this with semiconductors. The US snapped its fingers and TSMC is now building multiple state-of-the art Fabs in the US, near other US foundries ..(*cough* Intel hiring TSMC engineers *cough* )

This is just one examplw of how powerful the US. With just one word it can get technology from the whole world

I'm an electrical engineer by training and I currently do trade law. There's a fairly large group of chemical/mechanical exports by Chinese SMEs which is fairly visible in trade data. PetroChina, Sinopec, ChemChina, Bluestar, XCMG, Sany, etc are all fairly large chemical and mechanical firms based in China. Corporates in a country reflect *both* market conditions and educational attainment. US corporates had first mover advantage in the IC space, and it was efficient from Chinese EE/CS people to simply use US intermediaries to create their own products since there were no political considerations before. They are now. Now, you reuse that EE/CS talent to focus on IC and downstream since the incentive structure has changed.
No need to dox yourself. The person who accused you in the first place is a mystery himself/herself. He/she has claimed expertise in certain areas made some insinuations about himself. For example, he sprinkles some posts with Chinese expressions. Does that really mean he's Chinese? He also claimed, a few pages back, that he had contact unspecified Russian "branches" to suggest they offer some help to China. Is he Russian, then? His worldview is none of the above.

Silan is voted as number 1 IDM as it has its own 5, 6, 8, 12 inches fabs .

It's Mem sensors unit

In terms of MEMS sensors, Silan Micro has launched three-axis accelerometers, three-axis geomagnetic sensors, six-axis inertial sensors, air pressure sensors, infrared light sensors, silicon microphones, heart rate sensors and other MEMS sensor products, closely following mobile smart terminals and wearables The pace of product development. In addition to cameras and fingerprint sensors, Silan Micro is the only domestic chip manufacturer whose product line covers the main sensors of mobile phones. It is currently in the process of rapid development. In 2020, the company's MEMS sensor product revenue will exceed 120 million yuan, an annual increase of more than 90%. As the company's MEMS sensor products continue to expand in the fields of smart phones, tablet computers, smart bracelets, smart door locks, driving recorders, TWS headsets, white goods, industrial control, etc., it is expected that the revenue of MEMS sensor products will further increase in the future.

Usual tactic of price fixing charge of Samsung , hynix, micron from 2015 to 2021. Micron would probably be the informant against Samsung and hynix, and therefore take much reduced penalty. US micron will be off the hook

South Korea not taking side on the US and China conflict is the root cause.

Korean companies occupied a dominant position in China memory market.

China would also charge against Korean companies later and that would pave the way for YMTC and CMXT expansion.

US not happy with Samsung and hynix dominant position in the world and wants micron to leap past them

Korean memories getting killed is good for both China and US.

US government complaint about China semiconductor is complete hogwash. China semiconductor don't go to US market. Korean and Taiwanese are the real targets for US.
Besides Korean ram chips, what else do they have leftover, shipbuilding and K-Pop? Like some people said before, China should focus on replacing Korean shipbuilding which is a national security risk for China. K-Pop would be the only thing left for them.
