My brother's family will get vaccinated in March. Hopefully my parents will get it soon if they are not in the risk group.

I see mRNA technology as the new way to develop vaccines for the future. A lot of vaccines against cancer and other diseases are said to be actively under development utilising mRNA tech and the initial results are promising, China should try to keep in pace with the USA and Germany on this front.

Btw the mRNA tech is now actively subsided by the rest of the world by buying the BioNTech(Germany)-Pfizer(USA) vaccine lol

A Washington Post reporter came out with a book charging China held countries hostage that they better say good things about China at the beginning of the pandemic or else China wouldn't ship PPE to them. According to this reporter, this is why Trump said good things about China tackling COVID-19 in the beginning. Are they forgetting that they rejected Chinese PPE as fake and lower quality from the beginning?

In the conversation, the official said, Xi told Trump he opposed the decision to close U.S. borders to flights from China. Trump asked Xi to allow CDC officials into Wuhan, which by that point had been locked down. Xi demurred and asked Trump not to take any more actions that would create further panic, in essence asking him to play down the threat. Xi also told Trump that China had the coronavirus outbreak under control, that the virus was not a threat to the outside world, and that the virus was sensitive to temperature and therefore would likely go away when the weather got warmer.

None of these things was true, but Trump believed them — or wanted to believe them — enough to start saying them out loud, both internally and otherwise. “That was a soothing call,” said the official, who paraphrased Xi’s message as "nothing to see here, we’ve got this handled, don’t overreact."

Xi played Trump like a fiddle if this account is to be believed. Although I dont necessarily attribute this to malice from China's part as the virus was still new then and they didnt have the data that they have now, it doesnt seem plausible to me that Xi could say with a straight face that there was no danger when Wuhan had to bs locked down and people were dying. It will be interesting to see the consequences if the article is true.

The blame game again. That the all mighty and exceptional Americans can't do no wrong. Instead of focusing on how the White House, CDC, and State government catastrophe failed their people. It is all Chinese fault. No wonder there are so much hate crimes lately. All previous accounts of the phone calls claimed Xi warned Trump the serious of the coronavirus and Trump also said so himself from his twitter.


Frankly, it is too early to ink any travel deals.

Yes lol. But please keep in mind that this was the corrupt Trump administration which was trying to cover it's incompetence and the Washington Post is often or always parroting the official line straight from the White House.

This is something that we will probably wont get the full story until many years later
