We hear about China's high speed rail network all the time, but what about freight rail?

Anyone knows how well developed the freight network is? In terms of connectivity to ports, international connections, integration with other forms of transport etc

Currently China lags behind the U.S. in terms of freight based rail. It is fairly tricky balancing passenger (pretty much negligible in the U.S.) with freight.

China is self-sufficient for grains. People may not eat well but they will not starve. Famines will cause revolutions in China.

The hegemon's navy does not rule land routes, supply from eurasian landmass cannot be blocked especially if China is in good terms with russia

How does the RCEP compare with the CPTPP in terms of breadth and depth of trade agreements?

This will perhaps answer some of your question. RCEP is ASEAN centric to provide a manageable framework for the numerous ASEAN FTA commitments. The added breadth is mainly among non-ASEAN participant.
