I wonder if its still possible to build a freight system, since if I'm not wrong, trucks are much more expensive in shipping than trains
Imagine shipping something from Shanghai to Xinjiang, how many truck stops and driver changes need to take place vs a train.

Maybe a freight system could move manufacturing from more expensive coastal provinces to the inland provinces. Or maybe I'm overthinking and it will all be replaced by driverless trucks in 20 years

I thought South Korea and Japan were already siding with the US.
Situations have changed, S Korea & Japan are adapting to be more independent, economically and politically while still relaying on the US on everything.
US political, economic and military clout had in the past two decades faltered somewhat or are not growing. US reliability and priority are questionable and are asking for more protection money.
South Korea & Japan are in a precarious situation, they just can't ignored China present influence which is likely to grow. So they are minimize their hostile toward China even though they don't like the Chinese and ally with the American. They know North East Asia can't be prosperous with out China blessing.
America knows what's going on and can't contain China alone, but requires the help of all of its allies. So the "urge".

Need to move to automation. Human labor is best used on something else.

RCEP is gonna be historic, comparable to the formation of the EU after ww2; tbh i'm glad India isn't gonna be in it, for once India's strategy of trying to eat at everyone else's table has landed them in hot water now that they've decided to flirt with america and backstab China:

How does the RCEP compare with the CPTPP in terms of breadth and depth of trade agreements?

China should aim to get Bangladesh onboard RCEP and push for Bangladesh's membership in ASEAN. I see ASEAN integration as key to any effort at disintegrating India. Imagine ASEAN has free movements of goods and single custom area like EU, and Bangladesh is in ASEAN. It will make a much stronger case for Northeast India independence.
How about getting Pakistan into RCEP? Pakistan and China have very good relationships.

Bangladesh owes its independence to India which wrenched it away from Pakistan; that Bangladesh's leadership is wise enough to stay away from India's desire for war with China, and to court Chinese investment is credit to their leadership. Bangladeshi people however identify themselves more with the subcontinent than south east asia or east asia.

Myanmar can be controlled with Chinese proxies via the Shan State where the BRI will run through, Bangladesh could in the future fall to a RSS sympathetic government.
