I thought the key problem with Barak 8 was related to ToT and production on the Indian side, rather than anything inherent in the missile itself — because the Israelis are already installing barak 8 on their naval ships, I believe. So the question is whether these tests reflect that the Indian side has finally gotten up to scratch and can absorb all the technologies and supply its share of competent work to produce it once things get going.

If you read between the lines , Israelis are installing Barak 8 for tests to be held this year (some things were tested last year) ;) . Missile is not yet fully operational on their ships :

Um no, it says that tests of the barak 8 were already done from a Saar 5 corvette in 2009, and that they are being installed and will be fully operational in 2015.

So they are well past the testing phase.

And I never said the missile was fully operational, I said they were being installed.

I believe that in 2009 they tested some early prototype of the missile , because sources point that first test (probably on land) was in 2010 in Israel . Possibly in 2009 they tested missile without sensor . Btw , India would probably use Israeli made missiles for tests , because they usually announce when they employ their own indigenous weapon or equipment .

The first test of Barak-8 missile took place in Israel in May 2010. The next test is planned to be conducted in Israel in 2012. The weapon qualification programme will involve eight test firings conducted in Israel and India prior to entry into service.

As for installation part , I will believe it when I see it :D Sa'ar 5 has very liitle space for Barak 8 VLS . In fact , they barely squeezed Barak 1 VLS (2x8 I believe) . If they delete that they would probably enough space for just one 8 missile Barak 8 VLS .
