ByteDance is making moves on its monetization of AI. I presume new models are coming out.

Minimax to me is just low end stuff looking to monetize as much as possible. The only open source AI startup in China looking to achieve all around great models are Kimi and DeepSeek. Kimi 3 should be really good.

I'm not impressed by Minimax M3 TBH, way too verbose and doesn't understand context as well compared to DSv4 but runs slower and more expensive. I regret charging $25 to try it out, oh well now I have to find a reason to use it up and get my money back.

It’s too early to write off the US AI tech companies . This talk of AI as a fait accompli China won is wrong . Nobody knows how things will play out or which groundbreaking breakthrough will be achieved by either side. So it’s wayyyy too early to claim victory. We don’t even know what will happen tomorrow my CV bless years from now

China’s platform economy is an AI deployment engine. The U.S. is still looking for its own.

OpenClaw deployment brought China’s advantages into focus: fiercely competitive platforms, a coordinated regulatory apparatus, and a tech-literate, engaged public. Washington can still close the deployment gap if it builds public trust in AI and reasserts itself in setting global standards.

Not Chinese AI news related, but ties in with what I've been saying about generative AI like Kling and Seedance taking on a more prominent role in visual storytelling despite all the naysayers calling it slop.

Yup, the man at the center of the absolute cinema memes endorses AI in filmmaking. The collective meltdown of film-bros online is fun to watch. As with China's rise, acceptance comes after grief. The transition will be unstoppable.

Sidenote A lot of comments saying Marty is 83 so he pretty soon won't be alive to see the consequences of him endorsing AI. That's just frickin low.

ByteDance's Volcano Engine raised its MaaS revenue target to 15 billion yuan in April this year, with almost all revenue growth attributed to the explosive growth of Seedance 2.0. Seedance 2.0's monthly revenue has exceeded 1 billion yuan, and it is still growing.

people will pay for it as long as the model is top leading
