Javad Zarif calls for an agreement with America to end the war
In the article, published Thursday evening, Zarif wrote, "Iran should use its advantage not to continue fighting, but to declare victory and reach an agreement that ends this conflict and prevents another."
He added, "It should offer to place restrictions on its nuclear program and reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the lifting of all sanctions—an agreement that Washington would not have accepted previously but might now."
Zarif also stressed the need for Iran to be prepared to accept a mutual "non-aggression pact" with the United States and establish economic relations.
In his article in Foreign Affairs, Zarif warned that "while continuing to fight against the United States and Israel may be psychologically satisfying, it will only lead to further destruction of civilian lives and infrastructure."
