Lieutenant General
You should watch israel channels because that is one of the options they talk about,
One from Azerbaijan-Caspian sea-Tehran
Or from Gulf states side because that area is more flat.

To be fair they also say Iraq Erbil to Tabriz but that is much more insane.

Azerbaijan?! Did you even look at a map before passing on that idea? How are your troops even supposed to get there in the first place? And how’s the logistics lifeline to your forces supposed to run? This is the first time I have seen anyone seriously suggest the way to start a war is to first position your troops in a ready made caldron where they are cut off deep behind enemy lines from the very start, basically Stalingrad 2.0.

Do you have any idea of the length of time needed to just assemble the required ground forces for a ground invasion in a friendly gulf state? While under Iranian fire the whole time? Never mind 4-5 weeks, you will be lucky to be good to even start the invasion in 4-5 months.

The only way to do ground ops in the 4-5 week timeframe Trump has outlined is with air inserted special forces raids; or an amphibious assault.

Israel Leaders/IDF from their POV feel invincible right now, apart from infrastructure and civilians killed they havnt suffered any big losses.
All big losses are of the US and gulf states, the bases, the planes and even the ammo supplied.

Further comments from Rubio

The messaging comments have changed from regime change to missiles now, earlier they were pretty confident about regime change etc, but they didnt get the desired result so next is industrial capacity to make missiles.
And considering some of irans missile production is inside mountain bases just air striking it would be hard..its gonna eventually be a
SPECIAL OPERATION
Israelis would be fools to think they're safe. This is likely only the beginning. Iran is mainly draining US and allied AD at the moment, and erasing bases that they could safely operate from whilst forcing them to complicate and stretch their supply lines. Once this is done, I assume, the real fun begins.

Also I am sure the Russians are going to love having a NATO alligned invasion force in the Caspian

I dont think they meant a full big 50K ground invasion but smaller 4-5K special forces,
The tehran bit purely for regime change/politics thing, gotta be, otherwise that one is too stupid.

Reuters: Iran is reportedly close to a deal with China to purchase CM‑302 anti‑ship cruise missiles, according to sources familiar with the negotiations, as the US deploys a large naval force near the Iranian coast ahead of possible strikes.

The supersonic missiles, with a range of about 290 kilometres and designed to evade shipborne defences, would significantly enhance Iran’s strike capabilities and pose a potential threat to US naval forces, experts said.

No delivery date has yet been agreed.

This is interesting news because it means that China is still willing to sell Iran weapons at a point where war is almost imminent
China has now denied it is planning on supplying Iran with the supersonic anti-ship missiles CM-302.
