Trump doesn't care if American soldiers die or if Gulf states get massively hit. Quite the contrary. A war with fallen American soldiers is perfect for him. The mid terms won't be about the economy, ICE or Epstein but about high-pitched, jingoistic support of the troops and with that Trump.

People forget how the climate was during the beginning of the Afghanistan and Iraq invasion. Every criticism of Bush was branded as traitorous behavior. That's what Trump wants and might get.

The region, the US and the whole world loses but Trump wins.
Bush came off high support post 9/11. What exactly does Trump have here? TACOing after tariffs, execution style killing of law abiding Caucasian man/woman in Minnesota, or bogus claims that he and the entire US ruling class have nothing to do with the Epstein allegations?

It's just that after Iraq and Bush, the US had around two decades of further collapsing, rotting, internally polarizing, hidden inflation, overall economic decline, etc. To be even more direct, the feelings for the US military are now at all times low in the country; people barely afford groceries already, have no savings, only debt slavery, and lack basic medical procedures due to cost, and some citizens are even attempting to assassinate Trump every few months. I feel like they would find less "understanding" of such external over-extensions in any way now in 2026.

Netanyahu said he's dead. Israelis usually turned out to be right whenever they announced assassination of a high profile target, so I think he's probably dead.
At this point, this will not alter Irans calculus since they have contingencies for this but I must ask, how on earth will this benefit the US and Israel by having a new hardliner in charge other then some temporary hurrah from Trump.

It seems Iran has not managed to shoot down even a single american or israeli aircraft; Iran wont last long in this war
They can destroy all the air bases. They don't need to shoot down any planes. They just need to destroy valuable military industrial and cultural targets in israel and gulf arabs. They will sue for peace. Their win condition is simple, survive!!
