I have in my mind reading somewhere about DPRK interest in a J-7 licence (probably 1970s-80s timeframe?), but not sure how accurate that info is. It would make some sense though as part of an effort to kickstart an indigenous aircraft industry, they probably held exploratory talks to various countries such as the already mentioned Romania, possibly China and likely USSR too (which eventually gave the MiG-29 licence).

One can imagine if somehow DPRK managed to completely assimilate MiG-29 production and churn out dozens, even hundreds of them to date, coupled with the demonstrated indigenous electronics and weapons upgrades would have been mouthwatering to see (and eyewatering for the enemies).

In 1987, there have been rumors about it, yes. Nothing has happened in the end.

IMO not a CM and even more unlikely powered in any way. Looks more like a munition dispenser.
IMO much too bulky and as so often, that's what they want you to think!

Because you do not pay attention to other images where you can see from the side, not bulky.
Inner most wing pylon of Su-25 is rated to carry Kh-29 that is 690kg heavy missile.

This is Cuck Korea's equivalent. Data i found point to a 4.6 meters length. The DPRK weapon, seen alongside the Su-25, seems to be at least as long? Perhaps we can try to have a better look at the size by comparing it with the PL-15NK.

PS: Well, to me the length seems to be between PL-10NK and PL-15NK, so that makes it at least 3.5 meters and perhaps over that? That would put it in the ballpark of the H-29 you mentioned.

Great collage, have you come across one for MiG-29 and PL-10NK and especially PL-15NK BVRAAM? To me that's the bigger deal, as imo AAMs and associated FCSs are much more difficult to build than ASMs/ALCMs.
