However, isn't the Y-20 usually not much larger that a Y-9? ... at first sight I thought it could be a mock-up of a new tactical transport (but at second thought this makes no sense!)

It's further away from the camera than the KJ-500 mockup is, so it looks "smaller" and thus similar in size to the KJ-500.

In the third image of that post, which shows the scene at a longer distance, we can see the Y-20 mockup is a fair bit larger than the KJ-500 (see where their nose and tail ends relative to the painted lines on the flightline)
