I couldn't find the full doc but its a design patent so the figures should be good enough.

the question thus is how fast they can set up and how fast they can relocate , they are too big to hide and too high value to not try to mission kill with all means at hand
You put them up after you have put down most of the enemy resistance.

And then defend them if there really is anything small surviving.
(including by amphibious units that have already landed and secured the beach)
