Oh wow. I didn’t realize how money grabbing Nintendo and Switch 2 is on top of the game/console price. However, the Nintendo fans will buy it up like cotton candy.

$10 for the Switch Tutorial
$20 Annual Subscription to unlock a button on Switch.

The $10 Welcome Tour thing is so obviously self-defeating. Reading between the lines, this seems to be a Nintendo of Japan vs. Nintendo of America thing, where the former is unable to grasp the intangible value of consumer good will to the long-term benefit of the platform and brand. This time, there's no Reggie Fils-Aimé to push for bundling it

for Wii Sports for the Wii.

The Game Chat thing is a little more defensible, in that the Nintendo Switch Online service is already required for online multiplayer. Game Chat is just a value add to that existing proposition, one that happens to have a dedicated controller button. I've only briefly subscribed to NSO in the past, but I expect I'll be doing so for at least a little while for Mario Kart: World, which looks fantastic.

I think a lot of people are deceiving those who really have the real cards to play. No one has the capacity to replace China at this time.

Without China, the US will live with inflation. The American consumer who saw himself in abundance with products imported from China will find himself faced with a scenario where he will actually have to pay much more for the product than before. This is terrible for the average American, because there is very little left over to do other things, because he is paying more for the same product.

There is less money left over for more consumption, less money left over to invest, etc. All of this is capable of stagnating American consumption and investment, or even decreasing it, which has always been the driving force of the American economy. So, the real impact on the American goods and services sector is enormous compared to the real impact on the Chinese export sector, which will really find itself in a complicated situation, but it can be rescued by the Chinese state or find other buyers in the world, because the Americans are not the only developed nation with high purchasing power.

The American agricultural sector will also be heavily impacted. If a total blockade and decoupling occurs, China will go to South America to buy all the agricultural products it can find and close deals. So, China can easily replace what it imports from the Americans, but the American agricultural sector will not be able to find another large buyer for its export products.

A good thread about this:

Nintendo always makes some incomprehensible bad decisions when the situation is good. Many people believe that future price reductions are inevitable.
This can also be seen as a typical example of Japan's economic predicament: having long held a monopoly position, and then the leadership began to use arrogant strategies in an attempt to extract more profits.
Especially Nintendo, they always get themselves into trouble due to various deadly bad decisions.

Nintendo and Disney can do this because they are companies that basically groom children from a very young to use their products. So when they get older, these companies can still rip them off and for some reason the customers will defend them to death.

For those who either live, work, and do both in the U.S. prepare contingency plans just in case the worst case scenario happens.

A good tip and warning. We all know what happened the last time Trump use his mouth to blame China for COVID. Trump supporters will most likely take out their frustration on anyone looking Chinese. So heads up and hunker down. We are going to see Stop the Asian Hate part 2.

Seeing people like this think that the USA is winning the Tariff war and thinking that they have the advantage is literally making it so that when the nation finally collapses and the bubble is burst so hard that morons like this have no choice but to see the truth, I think I am going to enjoy watching that. That is the moment I am waiting for because in the situation, nothing less then seeing this kind of idiot make a final video on how the USA becomes a literally meme on what not to do to a nation is literally what I am going to enjoy watching how it happens and for idiots like this to have their attitudes change from being dumb and proud to broken and scared
