The Trade Remedy and Investigation Bureau of China's Ministry of Commerce has announced a ruling on an anti-discrimination investigation regarding Canada's restrictive measures against China.

In accordance with Articles 7, 36, and 37 of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce (hereinafter referred to as the investigating authority) issued Announcement No. 40 of 2024 on September 26, 2024, deciding to initiate an anti-discrimination investigation into the restrictive measures, including the imposition of additional tariffs, taken by Canada on the import of related electric vehicles and steel and aluminum products from China (hereinafter referred to as the investigated measures).
The investigating authority conducted an investigation into whether the investigated measures constitute discriminatory prohibitions, restrictions, or other similar measures as stipulated in Article 7 of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China. Based on the investigation results and the provisions of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, the investigating authority has made a ruling (see Annex 1). The relevant matters are hereby announced as follows:

  3. The investigated country (region) and China have reached a mutually agreed solution through consultations or other means;
  4. The government of the investigated country (region) has taken further substantive measures;

Pleasant development, I welcome it. Congrats to China.

I genuinely don’t understand how so many modern people today remain oblivious to geopolitics, despite it being one of the most critical forces shaping their lives. That wasn’t always the case in the past times.

Look at Ukraine, for example, people carried on with their daily routines, absorbed in their own worlds, electing or at least tolerating clown anti-Russian leaders like Zelensky, over and over, until one day, reality crashed down on them, and they found themselves in a living nightmare suddenly. I wouldn’t be surprised if Taiwan faces a similar reckoning very soon.
"I read a recent poll shows that 73% of young Taiwanese choose to "surrender" if the PLA attacks".

Interesting. Can anyone track down this poll ? English language media conveniently cites only poll results that show wide support for DPP policies.
