How do they enforce this? The logic of MAD (mutually assured destruction) is that both sides could destroy each other so it was pointless to think anyone could win and survive a nuclear war and that was the only thing that kept everyone from going nuclear. So here they think they can gang up on China by doing everything that will lead to nuclear war anyway but somehow they think they can force China to go along… or else what? They’ll nuke China and somehow China is not allowed too nuke back? China’s only assurance is that the West is honorable. China just doesn’t have to follow and they’ll eventually get nuked trying to enforce it or China will have AGI and they can do nothing about it. So what would be the point of this AI treaty? Yeah if US AI gets out of hand, the West will cyberattack the US…? The key word is “mutual” and there’s nothing mutual about what they’re proposing when they already stated that an “AI” in democratic hands is paramount. How do they make a machine democratic? Look at how the Democrats accused MAGA of undermining democracy and yet they consider Trump under the umbrella of democracy just because he’s American especially in comparison to China or Russia. That’s the kind of contradiction on why HAL 2000 from 2001 A Space Odyssey went crazy and killed people. Unless you molested the definition of what a democracy is which the West does now, what will an AI that that’s been programmed to protect democracies do when it analyzes the US is not practicing democracy by the definition the word? You know they will do that because the West always makes an exception for themselves to do the things they tell everyone else not to do. Their AI will become their own nightmare just like in the movies. I don’t see how they can enforce this unless they naively believe and moreover expect China to believe in their honor system which they will violate themselves. If Trump is violating the very democratic principles that they claim they hold dear and they do nothing about it now, you think they really care at all when they’re all words and no action? Of course it’s like the EU now where they think they can sanction China hiding behind some false sense of morals and ethics but somehow they think China is suppose to believe that and not retaliate out of principle.
