Correct. TELs are very suitable for China's terrain and doctrine. Nevertheless, they are still limited by geography. The enemy could estimate the likely launch points in China and attempt to nuke those areas to make them as inaccessible as possible.
@FairAndUnbiased

2 points

1. The latest nuclear submarines are quieter than ocean background noise. They should be almost impossible to find in an ocean.

2. In an age of near real-time satellite surveillance, large mobile TELs can be continuously tracked. So they would be worse than a silo-based missile.

It’s not just boomers, it also the successive Millenials who have memories of US as number 1 and believe a race war with China will unite the nation eg Tom cotton, the wolverines in the anglosphere, the neckbeards of resist and 4chan. Those aren’t boomers posting, but millennial and gen X if not gen Z.

Ritter is an America russophile so like some Russians, he may have preferred russia and America uniting against China, as was the boomer Tom Clancy dream of the 90s. He may well have been triggered as some boomers do, at “uppity asians” being more confident when most boomers are used to servile Asian emigres. Not saying his analysis is wrong, some of his Russia analysis and Ukraine analysis is spot on but there is a bias against China that one should be aware.
To be fair to Scott Ritter, he had also ranted against pro-Russian, and pro-Middle East people for being too cocky. He had ranted about a Russian guy who said that America is a paper tiger, and so Russia can nuke America without fear. Then he had also ranted against a pro-Middle East guy who mentions that terrorists are gonna be lining up to hurt America, because it supports Israel and had lost its prestige in Ukraine. Ritter is still a patriotic boomer inside, and as a former military man, that "defend your country" conditioning is always kicks when triggered by statements that overly threaten his nation.

When it comes to China, Ritter has rarely criticized it because he admits he doesn't know China enough. That is until a pro-China guy comes off too cocky for his boomer persona liking. Ritter is open to visiting China, but Russia is still his priority because of his Cold War history and his wife's Soviet history. Ritter is no Tucker Carlson. He has shown an openness to appreciate China's foreign policy and human development.

There was a China expat who offered to take Ritter around Chongqing to show him how modern China is. But personally, I think Ritter is more of a history and war type of guy. He needs to visit Beijing first. After visiting modern Beijing, he should visit the old Beijing to learn about Chinese history. He must be brought to Yuanmingyuan to start learning about the pain of the Century of Humiliation for the Chinese people. After that, he should be brought to Shanghai to learn about the foreign concessions, and the unequal treaties. Then go to Nanjing to learn about the Nanjing massacre. Also bring him to Xi'an for him to appreciate how old China actually is. Showcasing modern China can only be fully appreciated after learning about China's history.

Everybody knows this is how the US imperialist machinery works. Media and government work hand in hand to spread propaganda while occasionally reporting bad stuff (sometimes doing damage control) to maintain credibility

But nice to hear an insider saying it out loud.
