'Return of the Jews to Israel will usher in the 2nd coming of Christ, leading to the rapture' where Christians are beemed up to heaven while all else (including the Jews) are killed.
It's largely a Protestant interpretation of the bible, afaik not found among Catholics and Orthodox.
Also, the Ashkenazi are related ethnically to the Anglo-Saxons. There is historical and linguistic evidence of Ashkenaz being descendants of Scythians, and of Scythians being the ancestors of Saxons. Modern British historians reject this concept because the direct Ashkenazi-British connection is somewhat obscure. But ancient legends and folklore of Celts, Welsh, Irish, and English trace their origin to Scythians. On the European mainland, the Germanic people's connection to Scythians is more well established. So, there is affinity between them based on ethnic grounds.
Ashkenazi are the non-Semitic Jews who claim descent from ancient Semitic Israel, the Jews of modern Zionism.
Part of the appeal is probably just a lust for power and control of an important strategic site. When the British were Catholic (who were usually anti-Jewish because they blamed Jews for crucifying Jesus), they were always a belligerent in the Crusades. In fact, when British Field Marshall entered Jerusalem in 1917, after defeating the Ottomans, he proclaimed: only now the Crusades have ended.
As for the ritual itself wrt the throne, they do not say it openly but the understanding is that the British are the continuation of the Kingdom of David.
