Easy to see why. When both sides of the aisle push the most anti-Chinese propaganda possible, both sides become hateful towards the PRC. A lot of fellow Americans I see around me seem to have lost the ability to think rationally on this issue specifically. Some of the most anti-war Americans I have met still believe everything the US government says on China. It's amazing and a bit worrying to see. Great share though.

I used to be a card carrying member of the Dem-party (U.S.) and was a a frequent poster on one of democratic forum. The Dems are so progressive and anti-war but whenever the topic of China comes up, all the rationality is gone. From trade, environment etc. Not to mention the whole Tibet issue and this was back in 2008. That's why I was not at all surprised that Bernie Sanders language of trade, shipping jobs overseas to China and the whole trade war found a lot of resonance with Democratic voters. That's why the TPP trade deal that was proudly supported and pushed then by the always masters of political triangulation, Hillary Clinton totally disavowed the deal. And when Bernie Sanders lost in the Dem primary of 2016 a large number of them actually voted for Trump in the general election because he spoke the same Bernie Sanders talk, albeit with more crass and pomposity a.k.a. American style.

Funny you mention this, I still am a registered Dem, though I am probably going to take my name off and switch to Independent. The only reason I've really kept it at this point is to protest vote against our current neoliberal policy makers, because I don't think I can vote in Dem primaries in my state without being registered. The way the Democrats currently operate on China is wild to me, they brand themselves as a left wing alternative but them become quickly right wing in their approach to almost any problems.

Very good. If your enemies are liking you, you're not doing it right. If they "hold unfavorable opinions" of you, you know your strength is making them uncomfortable. If they hate you so much they're losing the ability to think straight, that's how you know you've really got 'em on the ropes. Good check of the big picture.
