Likely Korean cars were not cost competitive in the Chinese market in the segment they were targeting, and their automakers had to downgrade the cars. THAAD was a reaction to NK, SK has to prioritize its own national security and THAAD won't not be able to target Chinese missiles en route to the US. Not sure why Samsung wouldn't replace phones for Chinese users though. That seems very shortsighted and probably contributed to Samsung being outcompeted out of the Chinese mobile market.
THAAD is useless against NK. It was just an excuse.

The threat from THAAD is the tracking of ICBM fired from China. In the scenario of a surprise first strike by the US against the small Chinese ICBM arsenal, majority of the missiles get wipeout. The few surviving ones fire at CONUS will be tracked by THAAD early on, increasing the interception probability of the NMD base in Alaska. There is a good chance none of them will reach CONUS.

And in the event of a nuclear exchange, you think China will leave the THAAD site alone?

THAAD and American soldiers in Korea and Japan all serve just as symbols and trip wires.

In any case the fault lies with the US and not SK. But how can a terminal defense system be useless against NK missiles aimed at SK? The US could've used any excuse to build radars in SK. US can achieve the same with AEGIS destroyers docked in SK. If anything, US most likely intentionally choose a method that would drive a wedge between China and SK, so it would be foolish of China to allow the US to achieve that objective. And today with hundreds of ICMBs based far away from Northeast China and the capability to produce ICMBs like dumplings, THAAD is completely irrelevant. Even the most delusional policymakers in Washington cannot hope to survive a 2nd strike.

Seoul would be wiped out with MLRS alone in minutes
No need for nukes. Therefore, THAAD was unlikely for use against NK

The threat to the Chinese ICBM arsenal at the time of THAAD deployment was very real.

Anyways, try to pay more attention to South Koreans’ attitudes toward China. There is no love loss between Chinese and South Koreans.

Who needs Switzerland anymore, when China can play the role of moderating between warring/conflict parties?

The fact that China is the go-to nation for peace in the Middle East makes some folks mad.

The US blames TikTok for most of the antisemitism in the world. They want TikTok to be sold to them so they can control the message. They want the algorithms that they are so afraid of when the Chinese were in control of them. How does that work for TikTok where they pull their stake from the US? Does the US control the name? What’s to stop the US from offering their TikTok to the world maybe under another name because remember TikTok’s value comes from how they think TikTok spreads a narrative around the world. That’s why it shouldn’t be sold and continue to be a thorn in the US’s side in the rest of the world.

I’ve written before about how Americans don’t like it when others talk to one another without them supervising the conversation. Do it in another language and they go completely paranoid and think you’re talking about them or conspiring evil. That's why they want English only around the world and not just in the US. I've mentioned before how once I was in a car with a bunch of guys driving by UC Berkeley and I was the only non-white in the car. We drive by some Asians talking to one another on the sidewalk and one of the guys in the car mentions how he doesn't like seeing Asians talking to one another... Then there's an uncomfortable silence... He forgot I was in the car. This is like the courtship rituals of great white sharks. We know it happens but no one has actually ever seen it. I got to witness one of those moments where what whites only say comfortably around other whites.

Of course Westerners hope and think TikTok is going to be sold because of how much money is at stake. Personally I think it's just white racist paranoia what they're accusing of TikTok but if it's doing what they're accusing, then it's better that it exists for the rest of the world to use because that alone will drive the West mad because they're still not controlling the message even if they managed only to be able to in their own countries. It's another itch they can't scratch that will drive them insane because despite how they claim they're for freedom, they don't like it when they're not 100% in control.
