Another example of a utter lack of imagination and innovation in current US leadership and strategic thinking. I honestly struggle to think of any recent examples where the US has demonstrated anything other than crude copy-pasting of old ideas and concepts, even when it’s an extremely poor fit to the current situation, as is the case here.

NATO was a useful counter against the USSR because it contained many powerful industrial powers with strong militaries, economies and industries, which were close enough to present a genuine land threat the USSR heartland.

South-East Asia, even in an US wild dream scenario where they can put as side their own massive internal and mutual issues and rivalries, are simply no military threat to China. Nor does it offer any critical source of resources that China needs. Nor is it all that important to Chinese economic development.

This is really a F-tier area since the upside are so limited and the amount of resources needed to be committed to bring any meaning tangible benefits are so massive as to completely eclipse the gains.

For the US to devote resources to such a low-tier area means they are either desperate for ideas, and/or all their better prospect areas are already tapped out.

The anglos are a merchant culture aping to be a more martial culture like the Romans of the republican era to imperial era.
Typical of that merchant culture, besides being poor fighters and obvious cowardice and inability to sustain Ukraine level casualties, is a penchant for dissimulating and sowing division and sending other gullible vassals to fight their wars for them. The only edge the anglos and indeed the west had as a culture during the age of imperialism, was better technology and arms. Once that advantage is eroded by chinese technology and arms, the stark nature of the myth of Anglo supremacy will be revealed. Why else do you think the anglos are so eager to resort to nukes against china? It’s their one face saving card to prevent being portrayed as Russia of 1905 in front of their western caucasoid white supremacist peers.

The people of Eastern Europe suffered under the Russian yoke for centuries, so it is reasonable for the nations of Eastern Europe to harbor negative sentiments towards Russia and to seek aligning themselves with external powers to maintain independence and avoid Russian dominance. On the other hand, with the sole exception of Vietnam, China historically has never sought to dominate, conquer, exploit, or colonize the people of Southeast Asia. China has maintained positive trade and diplomatic relationships with Southeast Asia for over a millennium.

Germany was way worse to Eastern Europeans than Russia, including under Nazi Germany, Imperial Germany and in the Middle Ages where they spread Christianity in the Baltics by sword.

Something I've learned from studying history is that a period of long, moderate violence is much more effective in sowing hatred than a period of short extreme violence. Hence why eastern Europe hates Russia more than Germany, Vietnam's people have more animosity towards China than the USA etc. It's often irrational but that's just how it works.

dont confuse Ukraine with Eastern Europe. Eastern Europe is sophisticated and educated. considering there education level post 1990s. they gained at expense of Western EU. Eastern EU is using Russian threat to extract more from Western EU. that perfectly suits Russia. The poorer Western EU. The more Arab and American dominance over Europe.
Ukraine was always dumb the part that has zero scientific contribution and Ukraine is the holy places for Jewish pilgrimage further divided loyalties and it will face demographic collapse the way it is fighting this conflict.
South East Asia is well integrated into American system. if not directly than through investments of countries like Korea and Japan.

Much of Eastern Europe definitely did suffer greatly under Germany as well, but it's subjective whether or not the Russians or Germans were worse. The exact degree of oppression Eastern Europeans suffered under each power varied depending on the time period and location. Baltics and Eastern Poland suffered more from the Russians, Western Poland suffered more from the Germans. And Ukrainians had the unfortunate history of suffering under the Poles, Germans (Prussians and Austrians), and Russians for centuries. Also, Russian oppression is a lot more recent, as a much larger portion of the population remembers Soviet times than WW2 and pre-WW2 times. Hypothetically, if Russia had collapsed and Germany remained a fully independent power with a strong military, then the countries of Eastern Europe today would most likely be seeking outside alliances against Germany. But that is not the situation, Russia is still an independent major regional power and Germany is just an EU/NATO member state.

It doesn't sound irrational to me at all. Mistrust and animosity builds up over time, a short period of intense conflict can be viewed as an abnormality. Also, the Russian state has perpetrated intense periods of violence towards Eastern Europeans as well. Another factor towards perception I think is recency - Soviet domination only ended 3 decades ago, while WW2 ended 8 decades ago.

Not country bashing but simply stating the psychological disconnect between the mindy kalings and the Nimarata Nikki Randhawas of the Anglo west, who yearn for angloid white acceptance to the point of acting as good sepoys to buttress white angloid supremacy. Look also at the other ethnic Indian candidate for the US presidency- Vivek Ramaswamy - and how he behaves as a caricature of a right wing American political candidate.

The United States is not a real nation per se, in fact none of the countries within the five eyes except for the UK can be considered real nation states, but rather, real estate controlled by private equity.

So, what has your study if history taught you as to why long periods of moderate violence sow hatred in some populations, while instilling an imperialized mindset in others?

I mean the Mongol campaign of violence in Europe was quite attenuated, however the Europeans’ hatred of the, no-longer extant, Mongols persists 1700 years later.

We must also recognize that, as smaller/weaker nations must often negotiate within contexts and circumstances not of their own creation and beyond their immediate control, they will often base their immediate “alliances” upon perceptions of immediate threat and gain. Vietnam, for example, must now decide between the giant threat next door, with which it has ongoing territorial disputes, or the giant far away, with which its territorial disputes have been settled. They might, also, believe, or might have been led to believe, that they may stand to benefit from the future de-coupling?

edit: If you look at it demo/geographically, Vietnam would be an ideal context in which the west could set-up a ‘counter/anti-China’, in east-Asia; ‘cause it’s obvious that India just ain’t gon’na cut it!
