The countries of the former Eastern bloc are full of abandoned to the glory of Soviet monuments. below are pictures of road ruined hospitals, barracks, prisons and intelligence stations

Military Airfield - East Germany. Built in 1870 by Prussian military base passed through many hands and regimes before being abandoned in 1994. It was an airfield pilot training during the First World War, rebuilt and used by the Germans before it was taken over by the Soviet army after 1945.

Bulgaria Soviet Friendship Monument - Soviet friendship monument stands atop a hill reached by 301 steps. Designed by Kamen Goranov and sculpted by Kafedzhiyski and Evgeni Baramov Alyosha, the monument symbolizes the union between Bulgaria and the USSR.

Military Base - East Germany. This military base was built in 1937 and was used by the Germans as the elite and horseback riding school and produced some of the best judges of equine postwar Germany and riders. At the end of the Second World War the site was occupied by the Soviet 35th Guards Rifle Division motor.

Hungary Ma v Class 424 Steam train - The 424 053 Ma vag 424-locomotive was made in 1941 by vag Ma, chassis number 5345, the number of vehicles 424127. It was used during the communist era with a red star on the front water tank.

A sanatorium in Russia - When photographed this abandoned hospital, a room was on fire, with great clouds of smoke coming out.

Mig-21, 126th Aviation Regiment Battle, Mongolia. Built in 1970, this air base in Mongolia had a 2 kilometer long track and was seen as a first line for any possible conflict with China.

Aircraft shelters along the runway were built with reinforced concrete and designed to protect the fighters. They are now vacant.

The inscription on the building below says "Glory to the Communist Party of the Soviet Union." Soviet architecture was known as geometric and simple. Military buildings were built in the most economical way with standard designs.

Many relics of the past are still left inside the buildings. Since 1970, the standard gas masks were issued to all Soviet citizens.
