FS-Var-HMS-Richmond-Rendezvous-in-the-Indian-Ocean2.jpg

Combined Task Force 150’s (CTF-150) flagship, French Ship (FS) Var, in the Indian Ocean with Her Majesty’s Ship (HMS) Richmond. Commander CTF150 Captain (Capt) Crignola flew to HMS Richmand and met with the Commanding officer, Commander (Cdr) Anderson onboard the British ship. Afterwards, FS Var conducted replenishment at sea with Richmond under a rough sea and rainy weather. During the sensitive manoeuvres, which require a high degree of interoperability between both navies, fuel was efficiently and successfully transferred to HMS Richmond.

Hobart-01.jpg

Naval Today said:
The first of three new Australian air warfare destroyer, HMAS Hobart, is due for delivery tomorrow, May 23, 2015.

This marks a significant milestone for the Australian Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance, made up of shipbuilder ASC, mission systems integrator Raytheon Australia and the Department of Defence, responsible for delivering the three highly capable warships to the Royal Australian Navy.

The AWD program is the most complex surface combatant construction project ever undertaken in Australia.

Another AEGIS DDG going into the water.

She's a beaut!

Way to go Down Under!

On May 18th 2015 the FN Mistral class Dixmude (L9015) visited U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo. She is moored in front of USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) which is homeported in Sasebo.

It is hard to tell from that angle, but the Bonhomme Richard is about 180 feet longer than the Dixmude. This accounts for its much lager displacement.

Wasp Class:
831 feet long
105 feet beam
40,500 tons

Mistral Class:
653 feet long
105 feet beam
21,300 tons
