This might actually be the green house on the "old base" from before the big reclamation.
I stumbled on this set of pictures showing Chinese female soldiers on Yongshu (Fiery Cross) Island. I believe these were taken just before the reclamation. Enjoy!
It certainly make life much easier with these pretty ladies there on the island.

I wonder why they need a green house at all?
I think they grow fresh vegetables in there - which should both make for better food and nicer surroundings. The green house might be needed to prevent storms from flooding the plants with salt water.
I have seen photographs from several islands and outposts with greenhouses. I imagine they are essential on a small fort like outpost as in a storm all plants would die from salt but they may not be necessary on the new larger islands.

Considering the sun probably beats down on those features from sunrise to sunset, I would say the greenhouse helps retain moisture for the plants. You can't be using salt water on the crops and you have a finite source of freshwater.
With the new expanded islands, I think they should switch to multi-floored hydroponics. It can serve dual purpose, provide a level of self sufficiency and to further research on hydroponic productivity gains that can be applied to future moon base / Mars base missions.
