so how is the barrel locked? some Chinese source say it is just straight blowback, but that can't be true. the pic is a little too small to make out the details, but are there ramps on the 06 barrel to provide delay?

I have never had an cz52 but on YouTube they showed the difference between the roller delayed P9 and roller locked cz52, don't the cz52s barrel move back a little when fireing?

Anyone used Chinese small arms made in the last decade? How's the quality compared with Western arms and with China arms of two or three decades ago?

Thanks for the better illustration. I'm still not sure how the barrel is locked. I'm guessing it is the barrel is moving straight back and forth, kinda like Beretta 92. Another interesting fact about 06 pistol is the silencer is made mostly of titanium. Mostly for corrosion resistance, and also lighter weight. The lighter weight of the silencer comes into the play I think because the disassembled picture of the silence doesn't seems to show a recoil enhancer. Now we know the 06 barrel is not fixed, the light weight silencer may be an important to the reliable operation of the 06 pistol.

I wonder why the PLA has not looked into off-set side mounted scopes for the Type 95 to deal with the height problem when mounting conventional scopes on the carrying handle.
I know side mounting scopes would require windage to be adjusted as well when switching to targets at different ranges, but that's easily corrected for, and could even be mitigated by developing a single dial that adjusted elevation and windage together.
They could even have built in irons on the wrap around base that mates to the carrying handle to have back up irons as well.

That's a lot of hassle when you could easily get rid of that monstrous carrying handle, which is something they should have done anyway so they can add a usable length of rails. That and adding an adjustable cheek rest would be pretty sweet too.

Side mounted optics, bring there own can of worms. Now really I don't consider wind as much of a issue. QBZ 95 /1 is a assault rifle so the wind issue is smaller then then that is a sniper rifle.
here are the issues as I see it. scope is off axis meaning the shooter has to be on only one side of the weapon that's a issue for a combat shooter as eventually he is going to have to shoot from the other side. The scope is also going to snag if its on the body side. Its mounting will interfere with the charging handle. As is there are complaints from Canadians who own 97s about the placement of the charging Handel and getting at it this would make it worse.
no the best option is a Flat Top. Change the charging handle to either a G36 type or a T shaped unit then place a lower mounted rail system that runs from the front sight to the rear like you see on most modern bullpup like the Tavor with Irons mounted in the same location as the rear and front sight but with a lower hight. Then you can mount any scope you like.
side mounted sights are a better option for Co-witnesse sights like on a Sniper rifle then you have a red dot mounted on the side for close quarters.

To change the pitch angle of the sight, press in and hold the front sight to unlock rear sight, then it'd be free to adjust for the angle as required.
